Latest Advisory on Passports (As of 11 July 2011)
* Electronic Passport (E-Passport) and Frequently Asked Question
The DFA announces that all regular passports printed after 01 July 2011 shall no longer bear the stamp "not Valid for Travel to Iraq" in the limitations page.
For passports in circulation, the stamp will be considered void by the Philippine authorities.
Travelers who wish to have the stamp removed may apply for a new passport without the stamped notation.
The labor deployment ban in Iraq is still in effect. When planning travel to Iraq, one is advised to consult latest travel advisories. (Read more advisories)
The Philippine Embassy is pleased to announce that its Consular Section is now processing applications for electronic passports(ePassports).
Personal appearance is required because all biometric data are captured electronically at the Embassy. The Philippine ePassport costs €60.00.
Applicants are no longer required to submit passport photos.
All other requirements remain the same.
Production of passports is still done in Manila although with the ePassport System, transmission of data is now done electronically.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is pleased to announce that previous operational concerns have been addressed and e-Passport operations are back to normal. Waiting time for the release of the passports is now reduced to 4 weeks.

RENEWAL OF PASSPORT
A passport may be renewed anytime but normally, six (6) months before it is about to expire.
Passport production is done in Manila and so a passport applicant should always consider the processing/waiting time (4 weeks).
Extension of the validity of passports will be done only inextreme cases of emergency.

The birth of a child outside of the Philippines should be reported to and registered with the Philippine National Statistics Office through the Embassy.
When reporting/registering the birth of the child, the following documents should be submitted:

Report of Death of a Filipino
In registering a death, following requirements are needed:
Consular Mortuary Certificates are issued when remains or the cremated remains of a deceased are to be transported to the Philippines. The following are the requirements:
Shipment of Human Body Remains
Original Free from Infectious Disease Certificate issued by the hospital
Original Declaration by the Funeral Parlour (to include details of flight, certificate of contents, consignee’s details in the Philippines)
Original and copy of the passport of the deceased (Original will be returned to the family or funeral parlour)
Shipment of Cremated Human Remains
Original of Certificate of Death
Original Certificate of Cremation
Original declaration by the Funeral Parlour (to include certificate of contents, consignee’s details and airway bill number if to be sent through a forwarder or airline, if hand carried, flight details of the person who will hand carry the urn)
Copy of the passport of the deceased (original will be returned to the family or to the funeral parlour)

To facilitate the processing of Consular Mortuary Certificate (CMC) by the Embassy, please observe the following guidelines:
Please arrange an appointment with the ATN Officer of the Embassy when ready to submit the above documents. Telephone number is 01-407-4040 loc 12 or 19. Please note that an appointment should be at least 2 days before the actual date of shipment to the Philippines.
Then, fax to the Embassy, an advance copy of the above set of documents at 01-407-4040 loc 12 or 19. This is necessary to avoid delay in the issuance of the CMC.
